Don't Beieve In God? You're not Alone! 2008/11/17 00:50
DENVER -- A controversial billboard will likely be popping up in a neighborhood near you, just in time for the holidays.

The billboard is paid for by a Colorado atheist group. The message sits against a blue sky backdrop and says, "Don't believe in God? You're not alone."

Ten billboards will pepper metro Denver, while one will be put up in Colorado Springs.

"And we're putting them up in November and December because of the holidays, when church and state issues tend to come up a lot," said Joel Guttormson, with Metro State Atheists. "To let non-believers, free-thinkers and atheists know that they are not alone, especially in a country like ours that is predominantly Christian."

Cool - that's better than anti-abortion billboards.

I wonder what the response will be. I bet there will be some uproar in certain circles about this.

Yeah honestly, at least the atheists don't want to burn your retinas out of your face! Nicely done.

hopefully the educated minority will start fully-utilizing propaganda like their religious counterparts.

it's the only way to appeal to the masses.

I can't wait to see some of these signs in the midwest in markets where atheists make up an even smaller minority. I bet the signs would be vandalized by the righteous majority... it would send a great message about the merits of religion.

It be cool to have yet another thing to call the religious majority out on... course I doubt we'd change anyone's minds in the process.

I disagree. These people have been conditioned to not think. If we could make them think, we could get them to draw rational, logical conclusions.

Well sure! It's the getting them to think again after so many years of atrophy. I hate to make a reference to the Matrix but here I go. It's like when they try and pull people out of the matrix, they can't pull people out after a certain age because they become too ingrained. They become dependent on the lie that facilitates their everyday life. I suppose if we start showing these bill boards in pre-schools and sending them into childrends dreams at night as they sleep we might have an inch of a chance compared to their parents daily brainwashing, but as far as I know they haven't yet invented dream time commercials. Just like in Futurama!

...OKay, now I'm all for it.
