Maybe it's because he started taking himself too seriously. He couldn't put up with South Park making fun of HIS religion, so he quit. Even though he'd patiently sat though umpteen seasons of them making fun of every other religion on earth...

He used to be Easy Reader on The Electric Company. I used to have to watch my youngest brother after school so it was afternoons of watching that and Sesame Street. He's in his mid-30s and, I think, still knows the alphabet.
If you've never seen Isaac Hayes playing the theme from Shaft at the academy awards, you should try finding it if it's online. I just remember him wearing a bunch of gold chains.
